The Black Country Living Museum is the perfect place to go to gain a clear insight into the history of this area. The museum takes the form of an old village, as it would have looked at the height of the industrial revolution. Staff in period costume work the local shop and run a variety of workshops.
Whilst in Dudley a walk around the ruins of Dudley Castle is a must. The castle was constructed back in 700AD on a high vantage point that still gives today’s visitors excellent views of the surrounding area as it did back in Norman times.
A day out the children will love can be had at the Dudley Zoological Gardens located along the Broadway just down from the castle. The zoo has over 200 different species of animals making sure that there is something to interest all who visit.
For further family fun check out the Dudley Museum and Art Gallery. The museum specialises in fossils and has plenty of interactive exhibits to both entertain and educate.
The Dudley Canal Trust carries out valuable conservation work to keep the canal in good order. One of the ways its raises funds is by inviting visitors to enjoy boat trips along the canal and to journey through the famous Dudley Tunnel.
